Cleanup of Godeke Branch Library Begins Friday

Starting Friday, the City of Lubbock will start moving books out of the Godeke Branch Library.

NewsChannel 11 first told you back on January 27th about the Godeke Branch Library closing because of a mold problem. The city has collected boxes to store the tens of thousands of books that are housed there. Lubbock County jail inmates will be on loan to the city Friday in order to do the heavy lifting.

The city says it is aggressively looking for a 10-thousand square foot building to serve as a temporary library location. The city does intend to repair the mold problem inside the building if it is possible.

We will bring you more information on this story as it progresses.
