Some seven thousand dollars worth of drugs are off South Plains streets. 26-year old Juan Avellaneda and his wife, 23-year old Amandalina, are in the Terry County Jail charged with Possession of Marijuana and another controlled substance.
Terry County Sheriff Larry Gilbreath says both were arrested after authorities received information that a package of marijuana was expected in the mail. Officers stopped Avellaneda for a traffic violation, while his home was being searched.
Gilbreath says officers seized about 20 pounds of marijuana, some cocaine, about four thousand dollars in cash, and a firearm from the suspects' home and car.
