City Manager Job Performance Under Evaluation

Lubbock City Council members met in executive session Tuesday to evaluate the job performance of city employees. First on the list, is City Manager Bob Cass. His review began Tuesday, but is not yet complete.

The analysis will be based on last year's job performance. However, Mayor Marc McDougal commented on Cass' biggest challenge this year: the audit of the West Texas Municipal Power Agency. "I'm happy with the way that Bob's handled the WTMPA issue thus far. I think, not only for Bob, but the Council has addressed that very quickly, very openly, and we will continue to do so."

It is only one week into the initial audit that is focusing on more than $5-million the agency owes the city, but so far the Council has nothing to report. However, when the time comes, Mayor McDougal says all WTMPA matters will be discussed not behind closed doors, but in meetings open to the public.
