Duncan proposes judges not be picked by elections - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Lubbock State Senator Robert Duncan says the system of electing judges creates a negative perception. Duncan introduced a measure Wednesday that would call for the appointment of appellate judges, instead of elections. 

"The amendment embodies the concept that our judges should be free from the inappropriate influence of political contributions in making their rulings on the court," says Duncan.

Duncan's proposal would only apply to appeals court justices, not state district judges.
