Food for Thought Report 2.12

Only one location makes the Food for Thought menu this week, but there are actually two restaurants at the bottom.

A&W/Long John Silvers at 3415 S. Loop 289 has seven critical violations.

  • Cole slaw was thrown out because it had been above the safe cold temperature for more than 5 hours.
  • Employee's drinks were on food prep areas. A hand sink was dirty.
  • Access to another hand sink was blocked by a container of fish that was thawing.
  • There was no soap at a hand wash station.
  • An ice scoop was submerged in ice which poses the risk of cross-contamination.
  • A cutting board was dirty and had deep grooves it, so it could not properly be sanitized.
  • The report shows that there was no food-safety knowledge demonstrated during the inspection.

According to the report, all violations, except for the last one, were corrected during the inspection. Management says all violations have since been corrected.
