Keeping Your Animals Safe in the Cold

The sudden drop in temperatures can be tough on your pets, but you can keep them healthy by taking simple precautions. First of all, make sure you have a good insulated dog house, and the opening to the house should be facing away from the wind. Heating pads can also help keep your pets warm, and if you want to keep their water from freezing, a heated water dish may do the trick.

"It's got an electrical cord that's wrapped in wire springs so they don't chew through it, and what it does is keep the water temperature level just below freezing so they have good fresh water all winter," says Petsmart Director, Tom Tipps.

Tipps also says whether your pets are inside or outside, make sure they stay dry and warm.
