Last remaining books removed from Godeke

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock County inmates began to remove more than 80,000 items from the building last week. That job is now finished.  We're told due to space issues all books and other items will be put in a storage facility.   This comes after the city discovered mold inside the Godeke Library late last month.

Library Services Director Jane Clausen says, "The city is looking for either a temporary solution or we just don't know without knowing how extensive the damage is and how much work will have to be done."

Lubbock director of facilities Wes Everett tells NewsChannel 11 the contractor will begin an in-depth investigation Tuesday.  He says it should be finished within the next week.

Meanwhile, all items borrowed from Godeke should be returned to any other public library location which include Groves, Patterson and the Mahon libraries.
