LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Mike Leach's job could be on the line Friday as Texas Tech regents have a specially called teleconference meeting.
A line item on the agenda calls for executive session of "Personnel matters ... including but not limited to the position of the football head coach." After the executive session (not open to the public) the Regents will reconvene in open session and consider "appropriate action, if any, on items discussed in Executive Session."
Sources at Texas Tech and sources among Mike Leach's supporters have both used the word "fired" as one possible outcome if Leach does not sign a contract extension made by Texas Tech on January 9th.
Meanwhile, Leach indicated to a crowd of Texas Tech supporters that there might be a second possibility, such as Leach finishing the current two-year contract. Leach says, "Right now I just figure I'm going to finish out my current contract."
