Groundbreaking on new East Lubbock shopping development

Lubbock city leaders hope a new shopping spur will spur more development in East Lubbock.

City officials were on hand Wednesday, for the ground breaking of the new Parkway Place Shopping Center, located at 1802 Parkway Drive.

The development will be 20,000 square feet, and will cost about $1.4 million. It will be paid for by the North and East Lubbock Community Development Corporation, and Gill Holdings.

"We are looking forward finishing the shopping center in about six months," said Floyd Price, Lubbock City Councilman. "And after that we just lookin for the roof tops to start poppin'."

Price hopes Parkway Place will bring new opportunities, new jobs, and higher property values to East Lubbock residents.
