If you take vitamins every day, do you ever wonder if they are doing what they are supposed to do? A San Francisco area company has developed a new scanner it says can read the level of antioxidants in your system in just seconds, giving you an idea about how well your immune system is working for you. It is called a Biophotonic Scanner.
"The blue laser takes an antioxidant level reading for carotenoids. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants found in our blood and tissues an important indicator of the state of the body's immune system," says Ky Eap, a Pharmanex spokesperson.
Supplement maker pharmanex is using the scanner to show people what a difference vitamins can make. You can have your antioxidant levels checked now with a urine or blood test, but the scanner would be more convenient. It is expected to be available in some places early next year.
