LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The family of the victim of this weekend's homicide spoke out for the first time Monday.
Police have a person of interest, but still no suspect, in the homicide of 48-year-old Tina Marie Sanchez. Law enforcement took the victim's boyfriend, Jose Angel Rangel, into custody Sunday night. Police describe Rangel as a person of interest in the case. He is still in the Lubbock County Jail on unrelated charges.
Police are still looking for a white Dodge Dakota, Texas license plate 08M-ZH7, missing from the home.
Family and police both tell NewsChannel 11 that the victim's daughter found Sanchez dead in a back bedroom of her at her home Sunday afternoon. When police arrived they called for a full homicide investigation. There were no signs of forced entry, but the house was ransacked.
Police say the victim had injuries on her body that indicated the death is a homicide. However, police have not said the cause of death or what kind of weapon, if any, was used.
While investigators searched the house for evidence, about 40 family members and friends waited outside on the lawn. Monday, Sanchez's niece told us the entire family is having a very hard time. "She was just the type of person that anyone could lean on, and she would be there no matter what. She was very loved, not only by her family, but by her friends, and she had lots and lots of friends," said Andrea Gallardo.
Family members set up a memorial fund for Sanchez. You can donate at any City Bank location in Lubbock.
