The recent rain has forced the City of Lubbock to come up with a plan to deal with overflowing Playa Lakes. The city decided Monday to begin pumping lakes in South Lubbock as soon as the rain stops. The pumps will send the water to McIlhaney Lake at I-27 and the South Loop.
The recent rain has slowed work on the South Central Lubbock Storm Water Drainage System. When it is finished, the city will no longer have to set up the temporary pump system.
