Mother and daughter accused of murder-for-hire plot - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

DALLAS (KCBD) - In Dallas, a mother and daughter are jailed accused of murder for hire. The target? The woman's husband.

Dallas police say Shirley Hughes and her daughter, Tammy Lewis, plotted to kill Kenneth Hughes. Police say earlier this week Lewis met someone she thought was a hit man in a Wal-Mart parking lot, but it was actually an undercover cop.

According to the arrest warrant, Lewis gave the officer a loaded gun to use and promised him 25,000 dollars once the job was done. Police won't discuss a motive, but say Kenneth Hughes has a large life insurance policy.
