AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) - Fifty years after his death, a trio of singers who worked with Buddy Holly are honored by state lawmakers.
John and Bill Pickering and their partner Bob Lapham, better known as "The Picks" were honored with a Texas Senate Resolution introduced by Lubbock Senator Robert Duncan.
The backup singers never performed in public with Holly but sang in nine of his recordings. They've had little said or written about them and their connection to Holly. They were Texas Tech students when they recorded with Holly, and worked with him from July 1957 to February 1958.
