Most doctors believe that reducing errors should be a national priority, but there is a problem. Fear of malpractice suits influences physicians whether or not to report the medical errors they see. That is according to a study in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
The study also found that 68% of people surveyed believe the quality of our nation's health care is a significant problem. Meanwhile, congress is considering a bill that would create a voluntary, confidential system for reporting medical errors, but so far no action has been taken.
