LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - There's a debate in the Texas Senate over how best to use education money.
Lubbock State Senator Robert Duncan says Texas needs to update the funding system. He says Texas can increase school funding without raising taxes, adding that goes for local school systems as well as Texas Tech.
Duncan says he believes the main focus should be on classroom spending and not outside programs, "and make sure it actually reaches the classroom in all of these elements of public education, higher education and K-12," he adds.
We might have a pretty good idea of how Texas will fund schools from kindergarten through college by early April.
