5th graders send supplies to Iraq

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock fifth graders from Parsons Elementary collected and sent school supplies to Iraq Friday.  

The supplies are headed to a school in Al-Hillal.   Students also sent letters to their new Iraqi friends with the idea of becoming pen pals.   Teacher Christy Cole says, "We had each grade level bring some supplies, and we're sending them over because they don't have much at all.  So, they said this will be like Christmas to them." 

Al-Hillah is a city of more than 300,000 people, about an hour drive south of Baghdad.
