LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Afternoon temperatures will top out near or above records for the date today and tomorrow. With our dry conditions, and increasing wind speeds, there will also be an increase in the local fire danger.
High temperatures through Thursday will top 80 degrees. Lubbock's record for March 3 is 84 degrees (in 1974); for March 4 is 83 (in 1916); and for March 5 is 90 degrees (in 1916). These record or near record temperatures, along with low relative humidifies and increasing winds will create an elevated wildfire danger across West Texas, especially Thursday as stronger winds are expected.
