There is more and more evidence that weight loss surgery may put a stop to type two diabetes.
Researchers at the University of Minnesota combined data from several different studies on patients who underwent weight loss surgery. They found over 80 percent of the patients who had type two diabetes no longer had the disease in the first two years after that surgery. A majority of patients also lost more than half their body weight.
Researchers say more study is needed though to make sure the benefits of outweigh the risks of the surgery itself.
