LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - In the past few days, the leading local power companies, Lubbock Power & Light and Xcel Energy, announced competing price cuts. Now, NewsChannel 11 puts them head to head.
So who really has the lowest rates in town for a residential customer inside the city limits who uses 1000 kilowatt hours a month during March? We also asked for June because rates and fuel surcharges for both companies are about to change.
With Xcel, your March bill for 1,000 kwh is $83.11. That same bill with LP&L is $82.91. LP&L is lower by 20 cents.
Fast forward to June and your June bill (1,000 kwh) with Xcel is $100.53. That same bill with LP&L is $100.29 cents. LP&L is 24 cents cheaper.
So there you have it. The bills are nearly identical with not even a full one percent difference between the two.
