LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Researchers say people who carry excess weight in the middle may be putting the squeeze on their lungs.
French researchers have discovered that even in non-smokers a thick waistline is linked to decreased lung function specifically when the waistline for women is greater than 35 inches or more than 40 inches for men. Their theory is simple: too much abdominal fat literally pushes up the diaphragm and chest wall and squeezes the lungs.
