Councilman Leonard files lawsuit against alleged attackers

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - After a Lubbock Grand Jury found there was not evidence to file charges in an alleged assault, Lubbock City Councilman John Leonard says he will take his fight to the courtroom.

Leonard tells NewsChannel 11 that he filed a lawsuit against the three men who he says assaulted him on Christmas Eve of last year. In the civil suit, Leonard alleges assault and negligence and seeks more than $100,000 in exemplary and compensatory damages, in addition to all court costs.

Leonard was treated for facial fractures after the incident.
