"Get Motivated" seminar gets ready for Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - If you're in need of a little motivation, you are in luck.  The Get Motivated seminar has traveled throughout the world for more than 25 years.

On Wednesday crews worked to get the United Spirit Arena ready. Thursday this stage will be full of motivational speakers. "We're really excited to have some names in here that have been huge motivational speakers in the past to be able to share their knowledge with the audiences here," said Assistant Director of the United Spirit Arena Meredith Craig.

Names like Rudy Giuliani, Zig Ziglar, and Dr. Robert Shuller are among the list of scheduled speakers. More than 7,000 people are expected to attend. It's an all day event and doors will open at 6:45 a.m., but you're welcome anytime.

"The facility will be open all day they can come at any time but definitely we encourage them to stay because we are going to have some really great speakers and we are really looking forward to it," said Craig.

You have a couple of options for parking on Thursday. The S1 and S2 lots will have shuttles. "People can also park at the Civic Center and we'll have shuttles from the Civic Center to here in the morning if they just want to go ahead and start from that location," said Craig.

The event starts at 8 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m. "Parking is kind of tricky, once they are here they may want to stay and we will have lunch available for purchase. All of our concession stands will be open, we'll have lunch boxes so people are more than welcome to stay in the facility during the lunch hour obviously they can leave, but they definitely don't have to do that," said Craig.

If you are interested in going tickets are still available.  The event staff encourages you to get you tickets online right now. They are $4.95 or you could send your whole office for $19. But get your tickets ASAP because Thursday the prices will go up.

Crews are on the scene of a fire at 24th Street and Avenue U.  Scanner traffic indicates this is possibly a vacant, single-story home. We're also hearing emergency crews received several calls from people nearby who are worried the fire could spread to their homes. There is heavy damage to the outside of the building. The Fire Marshal has been called to the scene.  KCBD has a crew on the scene and we will continue to update this story as we receive more information. ...
