...FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO RETURN AFTER RECORD WARMTH...

The powerful early spring storm system exiting NM today will pull
in the coldest low temperatures seen in several weeks. The record
warm weather through much of March has led to a very early spring
bloom in many areas that usually don't experience their last freeze
well into April. Low temperatures tonight will fall into the lower
to middle 20's in the area from Taos to Espanola, Raton, Las Vegas
and the Estancia Valley. Temperatures are expected to fall into
the lower 30's for areas like Farmington, Glenwood, Santa Fe into
the Albuquerque Valley, and across much of the northeast and east
central plains of NM. These temperatures will be cold enough to
kill tender vegetation that has greened up very early this year.
Folks with gardening interests across this region will need to
take the necessary precautions to protect sensitive vegetation.
