LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - After a two-week stint at No. 11 the Texas Tech men’s basketball program has moved up to No. 8 in the Associated Press' Top 25 Poll.

The climb to No. 8 comes after a successful week to start off conference play for the Red Raiders. Overall, the Red Raiders are 13-1, with a conference record of 2-0.

Wednesday, Tech won it’s conference opener against West Virginia in Morgantown 62-59, the first time it has done so in West Virginia. Saturday was another victorious day for the team as it won the conference play home opener against Kansas State, 63-57.

The Kansas Jayhawks sit one spot ahead of the Red Raiders, at No. 7 despite a weekend loss to Iowa State. Two other Big 12 teams in the ranking this week are Oklahoma at No. 23 and TCU squeezing in at No. 25

Tech sat at No. 11 for two weeks in a row from Week 8 and 9. Eleven has been the team’s highest ranking since it was first ranked at No. 20 in Week 4.

Chris Beard’s squad will next face off against Oklahoma at 8 p.m. inside the United Supermarkets Arena.
