LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Tech baseball program has been listed at No. 5 in the Perfect Game publication’s top 25 preseason poll, marking the second year the team has been in its top five rankings.
Tech is one of four Big 12 teams ranked by Perfect Game, and sits at the highest in the conference. Baylor is at No. 12, Texas Christian at No. 16 and Oklahoma State at No. 18.
LSU is the No. 1 team ranked by the publication.
However, this is not the only high ranking Tech has received in this preseason. The team currently sits at No. 4 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll, which was released on Dec. 18. With these rankings Tech goes into its fifth year with a top 25 ranking.
Coming into his seventh year as the team’s coach, Tim Tadlock will have 16 letterwinners return from last year’s team, which include Josh Jung, an All American third baseman, and Gabe Holt, a Freshman All-American.
The Red Raiders will begin their season on Feb. 15 at Dan Law Field inside Rip Griffin Park with a four-game series against Oregon. The rest of the 2019 baseball schedule can be found here.
