LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police have nine suspects in custody, including five juveniles, in connection with a recent string of vehicle burglaries.
The first incident involved a suspicious vehicle in the 2600 block of Globe Avenue around 11 p.m. Friday night.
Officers say they tried to stop the vehicle and it led them on a short traffic pursuit. During the pursuit, two suspects fled the vehicle while the driver continued to evade officers.
One of the suspects who jumped from the vehicle was arrested shortly after fleeing on foot.
The vehicle continued to evade officers but returned to the house that was being watched by officers. Officers got consent to search the house and located numerous stolen weapons, including four rifles, eight pistols, assorted magazines and one suppressor.
Five people were placed under arrest, including one juvenile:
- Tabitha Herrera, charged with evading in a vehicle;
- Isaiah Hernandez, charged with evading arrest on foot and an LSO warrant;
- Sabrenah Guerro, charged with an LPD warrant;
- Erica Tijernia, also charged with an LPD warrant;
and one juvenile.
The second incident happened early Wednesday morning around 3 a.m.
Officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen from the Park Apartments (twice) at the La Quinta Inn in the 5000 block of Auburn Avenue.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and engaged in a vehicle pursuit, with suspects attempting to leave the vehicle in an alleyway in the 3100 block of 2nd Street.
Officers were able to arrest four juvenile males who attempted to flee the scene. They have been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, burglary of a vehicle, organized crime and evading arrest.
Police believe the stolen vehicle had been used in recent vehicle burglaries.
