LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Tour with head coach Matt Wells will kick off its 10-city, 13-event schedule Jan. 16 when Wells and his coaching staff arrive in Midland to meet with Red Raider Club members at the Petroleum Club.
Every Red Raider Club event on the Texas Tech Tour will be open to the public with complimentary admission provided to Red Raider Club members. There will be a $50 charge to any non-member, which will cover entry into the event as well as membership into the Red Raider Club for 2019.
“I’m excited to get on the road the next several months and meet our passionate fanbase across the state,” Wells said. “Since my arrival, Red Raider fans have been so gracious in their support, and I can’t wait to show the progress we’ve already made and my vision for this program moving forward.”
The tour begins with a luncheon in Midland and continues with stops in Dallas (Feb. 13 & April 12), San Antonio (Feb. 18), Houston (Feb. 18), Fort Worth (March 2), Austin (March 4), Amarillo (May 13), San Angelo (May 14) and Abilene (May 14).
“We are looking forward to introducing Coach Wells and his staff to our loyal fans across the state,” Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “Red Raider Club members will enjoy hearing Coach Wells' vision for this program, which I believe will reach new heights under his leadership.”
Hometown fans in Lubbock will get two chances to meet Wells and his staff this spring, the first of which will take place Feb. 6 after Tech finalizes its 2019 recruiting class on National Signing Day. The Feb. 6 event will be held inside the Sports Performance Center followed by another opportunity on March 30.
Likewise, the Red Raiders will return to Midland on April 5 to preview the annual Permian Basin scrimmage later that night at Grande Communications Stadium. The Petroleum Club, located at 501 West Wall Street in Midland, will also host the April 5 event.
