No. 8 Texas Tech beats Texas in Austin for the first time since 1996

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - For the first time since 1996, the Red Raider basketball team defeated the Texas Longhorns in Austin, 68-62.

It was a gritty win for the team, as they would go on multiple runs, but the Longhorns would always seem to have a run of their own.

Tech men beat Texas in Austin

Texas outrebounded the Red Raiders by seven, but Texas Tech forced 14-turnovers and had seven blocks.

Matt Mooney led the Red Raiders in scoring with a game-high 22 points and five rebounds.

Jarrett Culver had 14 points, Davide Moretti had 13-points, while Tariq Owens had 12 points.

With the win, the Red Raiders are now 15-1 on the season and is 4-0 in Big 12 Conference play.

Up next, for the Red Raiders they will host Iowa State Wednesday night at the United Supermarkets Arena.
