LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -The weather pattern feels more like Spring across the viewing area with gusty southwest winds and mild temperatures for January.
Other than a few high clouds, we can expect temperatures to fall into the middle and upper 30’s for overnight lows. No precipitation is in the forecast tonight. West winds remain gusty overnight at 15 to 25 mph tapering off by daybreak Thursday.
Partly to mostly sunny skies are in the forecast Thursday. A weak frontal boundary will try to slip across the northeastern South Plains.
This could keep high temperatures in the 50’s across the extreme Northeastern half of the viewing area.
The Lubbock area should warm into the middle and upper 60’s with a few 70’s possible again for the western and southwestern South Plains. Wind speeds will be lower at 10 to 15 mph becoming south-southwest late in the day.
The forecast turns colder late Friday and Friday night. A strong cold front should drop temperatures below normal by Saturday.
We could see showers Friday and a slight chance of a wintry mix late Friday night into Saturday.
Colder weather is on the way next week.
