Metro Special Crimes investigators arrived on the scene and began an investigation and found the suspects drove a gold SUV and moments later were told a vehicle matching that description was found around the 1900 block of East 1st Place.

More than an hour later the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center Investigators found the stolen SUV in the 4600 block of Interstate 27 and detained Miguel Garza.

Throughout the night detectives were able to find evidence that made them identify Garza and Alvarez as the prime suspects in the case.

“At this time, it appears the suspects knew the victim and confronted him while he was walking in the area of 37th Street and Avenue P. During the confrontation, it is believed Garza fired multiple shots at Rodriguez and then fled the area,” LPD said in the news release.
