PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) - When the Sooner Athletic Conference announces their player of the week – Lubbock’s J.J. Culver is a name that is always on their list.
This past week – Culver helped lead the Pioneers to two home wins over No. 12 Langston (106-75) and Central Christian (71-70).
In the game versus No. 12 Langston, J.J. Culver had a monster game, scoring 35-points.
With stats like that – there is no wonder why he earned his third Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor, the conference announced on Monday.
With Culver receiving the honor – it marks the fourth time in the past five weeks that Wayland has supplied the conferences player of the week.
In a press release sent out by Wayland Baptist Athletics – head coach Ty Harrelson had this to say on this junior shooting guards play.
“J.J. Culver…My goodness. He was just outstanding,” Pioneers coach Ty Harrelson said after the performance. “Sheesh, he was good.”
Currently, the junior guard from Lubbock ranks 9th in the NAIA in total scoring with 452 points and 17th in points per game with 19.6.
