HALE CENTER, TX (KCBD) - Hale Center Independent School District has announced it will cancel classes on Friday and Monday as it works to disinfect campuses after an outbreak of illnesses.
The school district’s custodial staff has been working overtime lately to give the schools a deep-clean and were even called in Saturday to disinfect the campuses. That has not helped and district officials have seen an increase in students who are sick.
Local health care professionals have advised campus officials to close down the schools after Thursday and emphasized the need for safe hand washing practices to avoid more illnesses, according to a Hale Center ISD Facebook post.
UIL events that are already scheduled will continue.
Hale Center is among the many area schools that have cancelled class this week. Earlier Thursday morning, Plainview Independent School District announced it will cancel classes on Friday and disinfect the school and Rise Academy in Lubbock is doing the same thing the rest of the week.
