LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - South Plains College’s Culinary Arts Program will host a community cooking class called “How to Prepare the Perfect Steak,” from 10 a.m. to noon on March 2 in its Lubbock center at 3907 Ave. Q. The class is limited to 16 people and costs $40.
A minimum of seven students are required for the class and the deadline to register is 3 p.m. on Feb. 25. If the class fills up, a wait list will start for an additional class. Patrick Ramsey, SPC’s executive chef, and Natlie Osuna, culinary arts program director, will teach the class.
Topics of discussion will include marbling, steak cuts, fat to protein ratio, meat grades and temperature control, among other things. Students will prepare cast iron seared ribeye steak with homemade steak sauce, quick marinated grilled flank steak with Argentinian Chimichurri Sauce and horseradish crusted twice baked potato.
All cooking tools and utensil will be provided, and students will be given a recipe booklet with instructions. For those who would like more information, they are asked to call Osuna at 806-716-2583.
