Fire Dangers increasing this week

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -Quiet weather conditions are expected across the South Plains viewing area tonight.

A few high clouds will track across the area from the northwest through daybreak. Low temperatures range from 25 to 30 degrees across the local area. Winds become southwest at 10 to 15 mph after midnight.

High clouds increase Wednesday. No precipitation is in the forecast. High temperatures warm into the upper 60’s to lower 70’s. Southwest winds become gusty at 20 to 25 mph during the afternoon. Gusts could approach 35 to 40 mph during the afternoon hours briefly.

Fire dangers increase across the area Thursday. West winds of 30 to 40 mph will combine with temperatures between 75 and 80 degrees to produce high fire dangers Thursday afternoon.

Blowing dust is also possible Thursday afternoon.

Much colder weather is expected Sunday and Monday as arctic air invades the South Plains through the middle of next week.
