Police respond to crash between Levelland school bus, pedestrian

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Update: The pedestrian killed in the crash at 19th and Alcove Avenue has been identified as 52-year-old Ginger Barnes.

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - At around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday the Lubbock Police Department responded to a crash between a Levelland school bus and a pedestrian near 19th Street and Alcove Avenue.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an LPD news release. There were students, coach and bus driver were not injured in this incident. Fifteen students were on the bus, headed to an out of town extracurricular event.

After witness statements were given, all the students were driven back to Levelland Independent School District and brought back to their families. Counselling and support services is being offered by the district.

“The entire Levelland ISD community is deeply saddened by this event,” Jeff Northern, school superintendent wrote in an official statement. “The superintendent asks that we offer our prayers and support for the family of the pedestrian who was involved in this unfortunate accident.”
