LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Two men have died after a freight truck pulling multiple trailers collided with their car near North Slide and Clovis Highway on Friday afternoon.

Lubbock police have identified them as 23-year-old Igbinedion Osaretin and 21-year-old Esosa Oyemwense.

The semi truck, owned by Old Dominion Freight Line, was carrying hazardous material. A Lubbock Fire Rescue hazmat team was brought in for clean-up because of worries about a chemical spill . All of the hazardous material inside of the trailer was contained, but the company brought in its own hazmat crew as a safety measure.

The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Lubbock officials were not able to start an investigation until the hazmat crews left the scene. DPS troopers and representatives from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality were also on scene.

The two men, cousins of Texas Tech basketball player Norense Odiase, were honored with a moment of silence before the Texas Tech/Baylor game on Saturday.
