SNYDER, TX (KCBD) - The Scurry County Museum and 1818 Arthouse in Snyder are now accepting entries for its Middle of Nowhere Art Competition. Drop offs will be accepted from Tuesday to March 2 and the show will be from March 14 to May 3.

Those who enter in this competition have four category options: professional, nonprofessional adult, college and youth. Only the professional and nonprofessional adult categories have entry fees – $25 for professional and $15 for nonprofessional – and college and youth entrants are free. All categories only allow up to two pieces.

A new feature included this year is cash prizes for all categories. Only first, second and third places will receive prizes. In the professional category $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third will awarded; for the other three categories prizes are $50 for first, $40 for second and $30 for third.

All entries must be delivered to the Scurry County Museum at 6200 College Ave. in Snyder. Any size works can be submitted, the only caveat is it must fit though the museum’s 64-inch-by-82-inch doors.

This year’s judge is Garland Weeks, a Lubbock-based bronze sculptor. Specific information on entry guidelines can be found on the attached PDF document here.
