LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Health inspectors checked out more than 60 Lubbock restaurants this week. They’re making sure the kitchens are clean for you and your family.

Mar Y Tierra at 2531 82nd had 14 violations.

  • Cooked rice was stored in plastic bags.
  • A knife was behind the faucet of a hand sink. There were no paper towels or soap in the restroom.
  • There was no toilet paper or covered trash can in the restroom.
  • The dishwasher was not sanitizing.
  • Food was stored on the floor of the walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer.
  • Bulk items were not labeled.
  • The ice scoop was on top of the ice machine.
  • Bowls stored under the steam table were dirty. Labels were not removed from plastic containers.
  • Cans were dented. This can cause botulism.
  • Chemicals were not properly stored.
  • The mop was stored in mop water. It should be hung to dry.
  • Multiple food items did not have date marks.
  • Food handler cards were not available for employees.

The certified food manager certificate is expired. And the inspector notes, due to the number of the nature of violations management did not show proper food safety knowledge.

The report shows most violations were corrected during the inspection.

Now to this week's good news.
