LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Thursday, educators on all eight Lubbock-Cooper ISD campuses were awarded more than $105,000 in grants for innovative education projects.
Faculty members from all of the campuses were invited by the foundation to submit applications for a grant to fund creative and innovative lesson plan ideas. Members of the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Grant Selection Committee decided to award 25 grants to 45 LCISD educators.
Some of the grants awarded include a classroom virtual reality kit, coding curriculum, mobile kitchen, tools for genetic analysis, specialized engineering equipment, a drone for use in marketing classes and more.
With the help of the Lubbock-Cooper High School cheerleaders, members of the drum line, district administrators and several grant sponsors, members of the foundation were able to surprise grant recipients in their classrooms.
The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation has awarded more than $500,000 in educator grants and student scholarships since its founding in 2014.
