1 in custody after Friday afternoon car chase in Plainview

One person is in custody after a car chase that started in Plainview and ended with spikes in Swisher County.

A Plainview police officer attempted to stop a black Honda Civic headed southbound on Interstate 27 around 12:29 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the Plainview Police Department.

A chase ensued when the male driver - who has not been identified - refused to stop.

Spikes were deployed and the suspect was caught just south of Tulia. He was taken into custody without further incident, according to Plainview PD.

The individual had outstanding parole violation warrants out of Kansas. He was also charged with evading detention in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and displaying fictitious registration.
