DPS chase through East Lubbock ends with suspect on the loose

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Troopers with the Department of Public Safety are searching for a suspect after he escaped following a police chase through east Lubbock along Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd.

The chase started at east 24th Street and MLK at around 1:40 Wednesday afternoon. It ended just minutes later in the neighborhood of east Brown Street and North Spruce Avenue.

At times, the chase reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

Troopers say the suspect fled on foot before he could be caught, someone picked him up from the scene. DPS also reported a witness saying the suspect changed clothing.

He is described as a black male with dreadlocks. He was driving a Dodge Challenger.

DPS are continuing to look for the suspect.
