Lubbock woman indicted after child tests positive for meth

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock County Grand Jury has indicted 36-year-old Misty Weikert for criminal neglect of her child, who is less than 15-year-old, after the child tested positive for methamphetamine.

Weikert’s arrest came after police were notified by Child Protective Services of drug test results, according to a Lubbock Police Department report. CPS investigators found the child tested positive for meth on Feb. 25.

A CPS report also stated Weikert was reported for drug use.

On March 4 police made contact with the CPS worker on the case and were given the test results and her admitting she had a problem with substance abuse. On March 11 police also obtained a drug test report that showed Weikert tested positive for meth.

The report stated Weikert admitted to using drugs from Jan. 26- 30.

A warrant for her arrest was issued on Feb. 25 and she was arrested on April 5, charged with possession of a controlled substance and child neglect. She is currently in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $7,000 bond.
