LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The number of suicide deaths in the U.S. has climbed to more than 47,000 every year.

It is estimated that each person who dies by suicide leaves behind at least 6 people who struggle to deal with that loss.

Contact Lubbock, Inc. is organizing a support group for those survivors.

The South Plains Suicide Loss Support Group will meet monthly.

The first meeting is Wednesday, April 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers at 82nd and Iola. Anyone who would like to attend is free to come and go.
