Optimist Club of Lubbock announces essay contest for deaf and hard of hearing
The Optimist Club of Lubbock is a Non-Profit 501(c)4 Organization, affiliated with Optimist International.

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Optimist Boys and Girls Club has unveiled an essay contest for Lubbock ISD students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The contest will take place Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. at the Optimist Boys and Girls Club at 3301 Cornell Street.

According to a release by the Optimist Club, “This is a great opportunity to showcase and highlight the academic accomplishments of students who are not deterred by the challenges of Hearing loss and have moved on to the greater achievements of the future.”

The top three essays will be awarded cash prizes and will get an opportunity to travel for the North District Optimist Essay Contest, all expenses paid for themselves and a parent.

Winners of the North District Contest will travel to Louisville Kentucky to compete in the Optimist International Deaf and Hard of Hearing Essay Contest.

Sign Language Interpreting will be provided.
