LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Just two days after McLane Carter announced that he would be entering the transfer portal and leaving Texas Tech, another quarterback announced he would be leaving the program as well, Thursday afternoon.
This time though, a local kid - Colt Garrett.
Garrett took to Twitter to announce his decision to leave the program.
The Roosevelt product graduated high school in 2016.
Since then, he was redshirted in 2016, traveled with the team to several games in 2017 and made his debut late in a victory over Kansas.
In 2018, Garrett was one of four quarterbacks to see the field during the season.
As he appeared in two games his sophomore year, completing only one pass against Lamar. (It was a 44-yard touchdown strike to Erik Ezukamna.)
His first career pass attempt is one that Garrett won't soon forget.
With Colt Garrett graduating after three years and being redshirted for one of those years - he enters the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
