New Home, Smyer land new coaches

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Last season, the New Home Leopards made the leap from six-man football to 11-man football.

This year, the Leopards will be starting up the season with a new head coach.

On Wednesday night, the New Home ISD school board approved Jon Ward to become the Leopards next head coach.

Pete Christy broke the story on his KCBD Twitter page:

Coach Jon Ward is a former player at Angelo State University and was the offensive coordinator for the Winters Blizzards, last season.

A program filled with basketball tradition is getting a coach fresh out of leading a program to the big stage.

As the Smyer ISD school board approved Andrew Brockman to become the Bobcats head boys basketball coach, Wednesday night.

Brockman led Gruver to the 2A State title game back in March and he is ready to get to work.
