LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock Fire Rescue and Lubbock Police Department were called to a home in the 2800 block of 63rd Street on Wednesday around 2 p.m. for a welfare check.
Officials say neighbors reported they had not seen the resident in a few days and noticed the windows on the house were black.
When emergency officials arrived, they forced entry into the home and found a deceased female. They also found evidence of a fire that was already out.
The Lubbock Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause of the fire which is still under investigation.
The Lubbock County Medical Examiners office is currently investigating the cause of death.
Officials have not released the name of the female at this time.
