Warmer temperatures on the way

John's Wednesday Evening First Alert Forecast

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -We can expect more sunshine across the South Plains over the next few days.

A slow moving low pressure system will finally push east of the region allowing warmer temperatures and abundant sunshine to return to our viewing area through Friday.

Fair to partly cloudy skies are in the forecast tonight. There is a slim chance of a sprinkle or shower this evening, but most areas should remain dry.

Overnight lows drop into the middle and upper 40’s. Winds become northwest at 5 to 10 mph overnight.

Patchy fog may develop overnight, especially where heavy rainfall was observed over the past few days.

Sunshine is expected Thursday as highs rebound into the upper 70’s and lower 80’s. A northerly wind shift is expected behind a cool front, but sunshine will make it warmer than what we observed over the past three days.

North winds could range from 15 to 25 mph during the midday hours Thursday.

Partly cloudy skies are expected Thursday night. Low temperatures drop into the upper 40’s and lower 50’s.

Gusty southerly winds quickly return Friday with highs in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s. Winds become south at 15 to 25 mph.

The weekend looks warm and breezy with highs approaching 90 degrees Saturday. Middle 80’s are likely Sunday.

Our next opportunity for thunderstorms will arrive late Monday into Tuesday of next week.
