1 person suffers serious injuries
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department is searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that happened around 2 a.m. Friday at the intersection of 19th Street and Slide Road.
Police were called to the scene to find a crash between a black Nissan Altima and white Lincoln LS, according to an LPD news release. An investigation found the Nissan was traveling east, crossing the intersection before it was hit by the Lincoln.
After the crash the driver of the Lincoln left, according to police. When emergency officials arrived they took the driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old Aaron Weseman, to Covenant Health.
KCBD has confirmed Weseman is a junior at LCU and a member of the Chaps baseball team. The university released a statement Friday afternoon.
“The faculty, staff, and students of Lubbock Christian University learned of the accident involving student-athlete and LCU Chap Baseball player Aaron Weseman early this morning. The university family is lifting up prayers for him and his family.”
A preliminary investigation found the driver of the Lincoln ran a red light at the intersection.
